Nigerian movies you should watch this year
In recent times Nigerian movie producers have seriously upped their game. We are getting to see amazing movies from Nigerian producers and actors. It is a new year, so of course, we are expecting new movies to hit the cinemas soon.
Here are the movies we can’t wait to see in 2018
Lion Heart. This is a debut movie produced by Genevieve Nnaji. Lion Heart is a story of an Igbo family running a transport company. It’s cast is star studded, featuring old time favorites such as Pete Edochie, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Nkem Owoh, Kalu Ikeagwu, Onyeka Onwenu, Chika Okpala (Chief Zebrudaya), Ngozi Ezeonu and Yakubu Mohammed. It also includes Peter Okoye and Phyno. There is no official trailer or release date yet but it will be released this year.
Amina– Amina tells the story of the legendary Queen Amina of Zaria. It is produced by Izu Ojukwu who is famous for the movie 76. Amina is an epic, bloody movie with action scenes. The cast for Amina includes Lucy Ameh, Ali Nuhu, Yakubu Mohammed and Clarion Chukwura. Although there is no official release date yet, a trailer of the movie has been released.
The Royal Hibiscus Hotel- Mo’Abudu is back again. Every movie this phenomenal producer has released in recent times from Fifty to Wedding Party has been a hit. The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, a romance-comedy which was directed by Ishaya Bako features Zainab Balogun, Jide Kosoko, and Kenneth Okolie. It was the only Nigerian movie which premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. It will be in cinemas from February 9th, 2018.
Muna- Kevin Nkem is the film maker behind Muna. Adesua. Adesuwa is the lead character, alongside Falz, Onyeka Onwenu, Ebele Okaro and others. In Muna Adesua will get to show off her martial arts skills alongside Mayling Ng from Wonder Woman.
