It is important to use soap while washing your hand and the consequence of not doing so can not be over emphasized.
However, the key question here is how do you wash hands properly? According to the world health organization, there are specific ways to wash hands that will also benefit your whole body.
Length of wash: In order to truly get most of the germs out, the length at which you wash your hands should be at least 20-60 seconds, and do not forget to use soap for every wash.
Thoroughness: It is not enough for you to wash for 60 seconds or more but how you do it, is what counts. Hence, to wash your hands well you must take care to wash in between your fingers, under your nails and the back of your hands.
When to wash your hand: In Nigeria, there is a popular saying that “Dirty no dey kill black man” in order words; “Germs can not kill an African Man”. This is not true and it is a wrong perception that has killed so many. Although people do not like following the rules, it is very important that you wash your hands before eating and also – after coming out from the toilet/bathroom.
Disinfection and Protection: So many people are being deceived with the use of disinfectants as the fastest remedy to washing your hands on the go, although it helps to an extent, the use of soap and water is way more better and safer.
