“Seven And A Half Dates” producer says film made N10M in 3 days
Samuel Olatunji, the producer of “Seven and a Half Dates,” says that the movie made 10 million Nairas in three days.
“Nigerians love quality movie” he wrote, celebrating the success of the movie which he also said emerged the second highest grossing for the weekend, falling only behind the Hollywood film, “Mission Impossible: Fallout.”
Olatunji described this as a major feat. According to him, only two Nollywood movies – one of which is “The Ghost and the Tout,” (also produced by him) – have made over 50 million Naira this year.
The storyline follows the life of a young hard working lady, Bisola, who is engrossed in her passion for her career who then finds herself in a seemingly unending quest for love.
Her father, Mr Gomez, comes to the rescue. Inspired by the game of chess, he sets Bisola up for 10 different dates to which he hopes one of them yields a positive result.
Starring Mercy Johnson, Sola Sobowale, Toyin Aimakhu, Bayray Mcnwizu, Frank Donga, Ali Nuhu, Akin Lewis, Jim Iyke and Fathia Williams, the romantic movie was written by Joy Isi Bewaji and directed by Biodun Stephens. “Seven and a Half Dates” was released in cinemas this year on August 3.
