UBA clarifies rumour about fire outbreak at its headquaters
Early on Wednesday morning, there was a rumoured fire at the UBA House, the headquarters of the company in Lagos. Other sources also claimed that it was the branch office that was gutted. The news though with elements of possible truths was, however, sketchy howbeit that there was an 8 seconds clip of the incidence shot from a great distance shared by a social media user. The video clip itself was devoid of much detail.
However, UBA groups through their twitter handle explained that it was not a major fire incidence and only the generator house at the Pension Office was affected.
Here is what UBA wrote:
“Early this afternoon, the generator house of UBA Pension Office at Idowu Taylor Street caught fire. The cause of the fire incident is being investigated by safety officials of the Bank and Fire Services of Lagos State.
The fire, which was quickly put off by the team of UBA and Lagos State Fire Services was isolated to the generator house as the main business was unaffected.
We would like to assure the numerous customers of the Bank and those of UBA Pensions Limited that everyone is safe and the incident has not affected the services of either institution.”
