Born on April 19, 1988, in Ojuelegba, a suburb of Surulere, Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye is the last of 4 children. As a kid, she danced and sang as a member of her local church’s choir and even she wrote her first song at the age of 10.
The Afropop and RnB singer began her singing career in 2006 and since then she has recorded and produced a number of songs which are well received both within and beyond the shores of the country.
In January 2014, Simi released an EP titled Restless which gained her new grounds and earned her a record deal with X3M Music. The EP contains a 5-track cover of popular songs by international acts like Rihanna’s “Man Down” and Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain”.
In 2014, Simi released two singles titled “Tiff” and “E No Go Funny”, with the former receiving massive airplay and accepted generally among music critics. She followed those singles up with “Jamb Question” which shot her to lime light.
The song Tiff was nominated in the “Best Alternative Song” category at the 2015 edition of The Headies and in 2015, Simi won the “Most Promising Act to Watch” category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2017, her debut album Simisola won Album of the year at the Headies award.
She has worked with other talented artists in the industry like Falz, Adekunle Gold, Praize and many others.
